Environmental Issues of New Zealand​

This course focused on prominent issues faced by New Zealand ecosystems with short-term research projects conducted in a protected marine and coastal ecosystem in Kaikoura. 

Field trips included visits to national parks and nature reserves - Tongariro, Kapiti Island, Mount Taranaki, Abel Tasman, Kaikoura Peninsula, Lake Tekapo, and Wiotapu.

Independent Study: Harakeke Weaving

This independent study focused on gaining experience in the cultural process of harakeke harvest and preparation for traditional weaving projects. The course included the opportunity to meet with and interview three women harakeke weavers of diverse backgrounds.

Whanganui Regional Museum

Internship​

This internship focused on building experience in the collection, preparation, identification, and registration of new insect specimens for the museum's wet and dry collections. Additional time was spent contributing to the design process for a new exhibit featuring native insects at the museum.
